The LICENSES Module
The LICENSES module provides a simple means of recording all your sync placements whether through a pitch, brief, or via a third party like a Library or Publisher.
LICENSES Interface
The LICENSES Interface is organized into four sections: the Side Menu, the Header Bar, the Details Tab, and the PITCHES Table.
The SIDE MENU
The LICENSES module is a simple data recording tool and as such has a rudimentary Side Menu.![]() |

The HEADER Bar
The Header Bar consists of the Search & Filter functions.The DETAILS TAB
- Search
You can search for pitches by any text field entry. Start entering text to begin the search. Click theicon to clear the TrackStage search field to clear the search.
- Filters
You can isolate licenses by industry using the Filter buttons.

Show all placements in Film and Television productions.View Advertising
Show all placements in ads and commercials.View Streaming

Show all licenses for corporate events and internal company productions. - The DETAILS Tab at the right side of the LICENSES module enables you to record the details on each placement.
Details Tab Fields
The LICENSES Details Tab provides fields for:
- Track
This is the track that has been licensed. - Date Licensed
The date the license contract was signed. - Target
This would be the contact responsible for the placement. This could be a Music Supervisor, a Library, Publisher, or even a personal connection. - Pitch
If this license resulted from a successful PITCH within the TrackStage PITCHES module it will show here.
- Project/ Product
The name of the show, event, product, game, influencer, etc. for which the track was licensed. - Industry Segment
The type of project for this placement. There are eight options:- Film/TV
- Commercials
- Streaming
- Games
- MicroLicensing
- Corporate
- Various (if license will cover more than a single segment)
- Other
- Episode Information
If the placement is within a television show, you can add specific details here. - Usage
The type of use for the track within the production. These will correspond to the Cue Sheet.- Main Title: Opening credits
- End Title: Closing credits
- Background Vocal: A song with a vocalist where the singer is not onscreen.
- Background Instrumental: An instrumental where the musicians are not onscreen (i.e. underscore)
- Visual Vocal: A song where the singer appears onscreen (e.g. a band in a bar)
- Visual Instrumental: An instrumental where the musicians are seen playing onscreen.
- Duration
The total length that your track plays within the film/episode/ad, etc. - # Plays
How many times the track will be used over the life of the contract. - Fee
The full sync licensing fee. - My split
The net value you will pocket after splits with the Publisher/Library etc.
- Contracts
Uploaders to attach the contract and/or deal memo to the record.
The LICENSES TABLE
The LICENSES Table gives you a quick overview of all your sync placements.
Selecting & Editing Licenses
To select a LICENSE to edit it, click on it and then on the Tab you want to work in. To select a LICENSE to Add, Delete or to Export to .CSV, click in the checkbox. To select multiple LICENSES, click their checkboxes. You can also select groups of LICENSES by shift-clicking in the checkboxes. To select ALL LICENSES within a view, click the checkbox in the column header.

You can get a sense of where your licenses are coming through the LICENSES industry segment icons.
Film/TV
A placement within a film or television production.Advertising
A placement within a commercial.Streaming
A placement from a streaming platform.Games
A placement within a game, whether internet, console, or computer-based.MicroLicensing
A small license to an independent producer for TikTok, YouTube, etc.Corporate
A placement for a corporate event or internal company production (not advertising).Other
The license has not been assigned any of the above segments.Columns
The columns in the LICENSES table reflect the data that is entered in the DETAILS tab, and the PITCHES module. The columns can be resized and reordered, and you can also specify which fields you do and don't want to see so that you can see only the info you want to see.
Sorting
You can sort the tracks in the LICENSES module by clicking on the column you would like to sort by. Clicking toggles between ascending and descending order. - Track
