The RESEARCH Tab

The RESEARCH Tab

The more you research a Target, the more likely you are to build a positive and fruitful relationship with that individual – if only to recognize what genres they work with. No point in sending your heavy metal tracks to a classical music library.

TARGET Type

As with the TARGET INFO Tab, the RESEARCH Tab offers different fields according to TARGET Type:
  • Music Supervisors
  • Libraries
  • Publishers
  • Licensing and Sync Agencies
  • Pay-to-Play Services
  • Production Companies
This allows you to filter your TARGETS so you can easily see what connections you have and who you are approaching. Depending on what the TARGET'S Type is, different information and research fields will be available to view and edit.

TARGET Type Info

Each target type has different information fields that are relevant to their industry segment that appear in the INFO and RESEARCH Tabs.

Depending on the Target type, different information is available for viewing and editing. After adding or editing information click the Save Changes button at the bottom-right of the Tab.

RESEARCH Tab Fields

  • Typical Genres  (Music Supervisors, Publishers, Sync Agents, Libraries)
The musical genres or themes that the TARGET specializes in - especially if relevant to the genres you produce.
  • Past Artists/Composers  (ALL Types EXCEPT Pay-to-Play)
Composers that the TARGET has licensed or represents. Especially if your work sounds similar.

  • Current Projects  (ALL Types EXCEPT Pay-to-Play)
Current projects in production and/or pre-production, or products represented. Especially projects (i.e. television or streaming series) that are ongoing.
  • Past Projects  (ALL Types EXCEPT Pay-to-Play)
The projects or campaigns that the TARGET has worked on in the past. This is helpful for starting conversations.
  • Publicity  (Music Supervisors)
Articles, podcasts, posts, blogs etc. These can be a great source of information and background on the TARGET to open discussions with them. Quoting them is a great way to show you do your homework.
  • Awards  (Music Supervisors)
Whether it's a Music Supervisor's Guild award or an Emmy nomination, who doesn't like to get congratulated for their achievements?
  • Mutual Connections  (Music Supervisors)
If your best friend Bob is this supervisor's pet-sitter, it can be another great conversation starter.
  • Notes (ALL Types)
Anything that we've forgotten? Just throw that stuff here.
